Nonetheless, there are also natural methods of birth control some of which were utilized in the ancient times for the same purpose and are still employed currently but in a more efficient manner with the thorough understanding and establishment of the human reproduction. These approaches classified as natural use no devices or chemicals to achieve their intended purpose. They include lactation amenorrhea, rhythm or calendar method, coitus interruptus or withdrawal, basal body temperature monitoring method and absti nence (Mastroianni, Donaldson, Kane Committee on Contraceptive Development 2012). However, even though there is the existence of these methods of contraception, they are not used by all individuals in the society due to issues related to cultural beliefs, religion, and ethics. This has prompted the establishment of regulations, guidelines and laws governing the use of these methods in different states. Although contraception has not been fully accepted in all societies worldwide, there has been a consistently relative improvement over time with the use of it. This can be greatly attributed to improved access to medical care in most countries, advanced medical assistance, health education, literacy, globalization and dissemination of information from concerned government and medical and reproductive research agencies to the consumers and the general public. Notably, a number of factors are considered when one is choosing the kind of contraceptive approach most suitable to them. Not all of these approaches can be used everyone, and therefore explicit explanation, advice and health education should be provided to the interested users in order for them to have an insight of what each of the approaches entails. The factors commonly considered while selecting the most suitable method of birth control include availability. Availability is the ease of access to the various options provided in either local health care facilities or other pharmaceutical outlets. With chemical means, hormonal methods have higher success rates in prevention of conception while other chemical non hormonal options result in more uninte nded conceptions. Nevertheless, they are all better in terms of success rate when compared with natural methods which pose the highest risk of failure. Therefore, the only methods that are regarded to be 100% effective and reliable in prevention of conception as stipulated in table 1,are surgical tubal ligation, tubectomy, vasectomy and abstinance but only if these procedures are done correctly without any medical error. Moreover, its use doesnt need any medical supervision. However, the couples are supposed to have knowledge on the correct use in order to prevent ineffectiveness and failure cases. It is readily available in most places, relatively cheap and accepted by most couples since it is entirely reversible but some may argue that it reduces pleasure. Diaphragm This is a thin rubber that is inserted through the vagina and fitted on the cervix just before intercourse to prevent entry of sperms into the uterus. Cervical caps also use the same principles as a diaphragm. A spermicidal cream is applied to the diaphragm before this insertion. It is also supposed to be left intact for 6-8 hours after intercourse before it is removed or up to 16 hours if sex is desired again in which case additional spermicidal cream is applied without removal of the device. However, those having uterus prolapse and highly relaxed vaginal muscles are advised not to use this method as it may lead to further complications. It is moderately effective for highly motivated couples and is completely reversible but just like condoms; there can be rare occasions where allergic reactions can ensue (Zorea, 2012). Intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) It is also referred to as a coil or loop. It is a small plastic coated with copper or hormones. The hormones are introduced into the womans body through either oral intake of contraceptive pills, injection or implantation of hormonal implants. There are two types of oral contraceptives, namely the combined oral contraceptives (COC) and progesterone only pills (Drill, 2016). The earlier comes in three major combinations: monophasic, biphasic and triphasic and its mode of action is inhibition of ovulation by altering the hormonal profile in the female consumer. Monophasic pills are composed of the equal amount of progesterone and estrogen hormones. Drospirenone/ethinylestradiol is an example of such a pill. Biphasic pills contain the two hormones, progesterone, and estrogen with two different dose combinations. On the other hand, triphasic pills have three types of two separate combinations of estrogen and progesterone. The second category, progesterone only pills, is composed of progesterone hormone only. Injectable contraceptives are equally based on the principle of preventing ovulation. A 150 mg dose of medroxyprogesterone acetate is injected intramuscularly after every three months. Likewise, implants are small devices that have hormones majorly levanogesteral. They are inserted into the groove between the biceps and triceps of upper forearm. All these options provide 100% conception prevention if used according to the recommendation. The use of these methods is completely reversible albeit not immediately. Some of the effects associated with their use are breast tenderness, weight gain, headache, nausea and slightly rise in blood pressure, spotting, irregular menstruation, excessive bleeding and in some instances reduced menstrual flow. Emergency contraceptive pills are high dose progesterone or estrogen based pills that are taken after unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent fertilization and implantation. They are supposed to be taken within 72-120 hours after the intercourse for them to be effective. They may also cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and headache besides making the menstrual cycle become irregular for some time. Surgical methods: Tubal ligation, tubectomy, and vasectomy Surgical methods of birth control are also known as sterilization since they are permanent except for tubal ligation. In females, tubal ligation involves the tying both fallopian tubes to prevent movement of the ovum into the uterus as well as preventing the sperms from reaching the ovulated egg for fertilization. This method is surgically performed and is reversible.on the other hand; tubectomy is the surgical cutting of the fallopian tube hence causing as a disconnection between the ovaries and the uterus. Thus there is no release of the ovum into the uterus or possibility of fertilization. In males, a vasectomy involves surgical cutting of the vas deferens from each testicle hence preventing sperms from being released to mix with semen before ejaculation. Natural methods Cervical mucus monitoring method: This is the monitoring of cervical mucus to determine the most likely time of one to conceive. I am the one asking the questions when we buy or sell a car. I make sure all details are discussed and no specifics are left unanswered. Itââ¬â¢s not hard to see why the writer was accepted to Georgetown. This essay clearly demonstrates her experience and understanding of the world. The last paragraph is a great example of how to turn that experience into something actionable- she wants to go into public service, politics, or diplomacy because of how sheââ¬â¢s helped her parents and the bigotry sheââ¬â¢s witnessed as sheââ¬â¢s done so. Ebola Outbreaks in Sudan and Zaire On July 27, 1976, the very first person to contract the Ebola virus began to show symptoms. Ten days later he was dead. Over the course of the next few months, the first Ebola outbreaks in history occurred in Sudan and Zaire*, with a total of 602 reported cases and 431 deaths. The Ebola Outbreak in Sudan The first victim to contract Ebola was a cotton factory worker from Nzara, Sudan. Soon after this first man came down with symptoms, so did his co-worker. Then the co-workers wife became sick. The outbreak quickly spread to the Sudanese town of Maridi, where there was a hospital. Since no one in the medical field had ever seen this illness before, it took them awhile to realize that it was passed by close contact.à By the time the outbreak had subsided in the Sudan, 284 people had become ill, 151 of whom had died. This new illness was a killer, causing fatality in 53% of its victims. This strain of the virus is now called Ebola-Sudan. Ebola Outbreak in Zaire On September 1, 1976, another, even more deadly, outbreak of Ebola struck - this time in Zaire. The first victim of this outbreak was a 44-year-old teacher who had just returned from a tour of northern Zaire. After suffering from symptoms that seemed like malaria, this first victim went to the Yambuku Mission Hospital and received a shot of an anti-malarial drug. Unfortunately, at that time the hospital did not use disposable needles nor did they properly sterilize the ones they used. Thus, the Ebola virus spread through used needles to many of the hospitals patients. For four weeks, the outbreak continued to expand. However, the outbreak finally ended after the Yambuku Mission Hospital was closed down (11 of the 17 hospital staff having died) and the remaining Ebola victims were isolated. In Zaire, the Ebola virus had been contracted by 318 people, 280 of whom died. This strain of the Ebola virus, now called Ebola-Zaire, killed 88% of its victims. The Ebola-Zaire strain remains the most deadly of the Ebola viruses. Symptoms of Ebola The Ebola virus is deadly, but since the initial symptoms can seem similar to many other medical issues, many infected people may remain ignorant of the seriousness of their condition for several days. For those infected by Ebola, most victims begin to show symptoms between two and 21 days after first contracting Ebola. At first, the victim may only experience influenza-like symptoms: fever, headache, weakness, muscle pain, and a sore throat. However, additional symptoms begin to manifest quickly. Victims often suffer from diarrhea, vomiting, and a rash. Then the victim often starts bleeding, both internally and externally. Despite extensive research, no one is yet sure where the Ebola virus occurs naturally nor why it flares up when it does. What we do know is that the Ebola virus is passed from host to host, usually by contact with infected blood or other bodily fluids. Scientists have designated the Ebola virus, which is also called Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF), as a member of the Filoviridae family. There are currently five known strains of the Ebola virus: Zaire, Sudan, Cà ´te dââ¬â¢Ivoire, Bundibugyo and Reston. So far, the Zaire strain remains the most deadly (80% death rate) and the Reston the least (0% death rate). However, the Ebola-Zaire and Ebola-Sudan strains have caused all the major known outbreaks. Additional Ebola Outbreaks The 1976 Ebola outbreaks in Sudan and Zaire were just the first and most definitely not the last. Although there have been many isolated cases or even small outbreaks since 1976, the largest outbreaks have been in Zaire in 1995 (315 cases), Uganda in 2000-2001 (425 cases), and in the Republic of the Congo in 2007 (264 cases). * The country of Zaire changed its name to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in May 1997.

Laws Against Assisted Suicide in Canada "This is a very special day for me. It's the day of my release, the release from suffering, the release from the torment of my body." Those were the words of the very first Canadian to die through the process of doctor assisted- suicide, with the doctor being Jack Kevorkian. His name was Austin Bastable, and in the last few years of his life he became a crusader for the right to die with dignity. It has been only in these last few years, with the introduction of people such as Dr. Jack Kevorkian and Austin Bastable, that the world has begun to see the benefits made possible by the act of assisted-suicide. The prevention of suffering and pain made possible through this medicide, regarded as immoral for years, affects not only the patient but their immediate and distant relatives as well. Kevorkian told a judicial court the same one day in late April, early May: "Suicide is not the aim. Eliminating suffering is the aim, but you pay a price with the loss of a life." Although Kevorkian's methods have succeeded with some difficulty, in the USA, their northern neighbour, our great dominion of Canada, disallows the administration of this relieving practice. In our grand country assisted suicide is illegal. Cases of other terminally ill persons have surfaced throughout the news, the most prominent being those related to Dr. "Death" Kevorkian. We don't often think on what a terminally ill person might be like. They might be suffering from Lou Gehrig's Disease. They might be suffering from multiple sclerosis. They might be suffering from any number of other types of injuries and diseases. What we don't think about are the cases that bring out our most empathetic feelings. Take the case of one Christine Busalacchi, who was so severely injured in an accident that she now lives in what her father calls a "persistent vegetative condition." Vegetative is precisely the word to describe her condition. She has lost enough weight to cause her to appear as someone else. She has her right leg bent with her knee always in the air and her left foot is frozen in a quite unnatural manner.
